Frenchman Caught with Ya-Ice at Traffic Checkpoint

A Pattaya Traffic Officer set up a checkpoint in South Pattaya and caught a Frenchman in possession of Ya-ice, a class 1 drug.

Pattaya, 27th February 2011, At about 12.30 am, Maj Col Thanaphong Phothi, Pattaya Traffic Inspector, instructed a traffic police team to set up a check point in order to monitor traffic discipline and to search for illegal items on Thappraya Road near Marine Hotel, South Pattaya. A French national, Mr. Sebastian Killami (34), was riding a black Suzuki Hayate motorbike past the checkpoint acting suspiciously leading police to search him where they found 0.51 gram of Ya-Ice kept in his pants pocket.

On questioning, Mr. Killami stated that he bought the Ya-Ice from a Thai dealer in a South Pattaya entertainment venue. He took it for his own consumption in his room. Before apprehension he was riding a motorbike to go to another venue for a night out but ran into the police checkpoint. The officer subsequently arrested Mr. Killami requiring him to supply a urine sample for testing from which the inevitable purple resulted. Mr. Killami has been charged with being in possession of a class one drug (Ya-Ice).
