French Credit Card Scammers ArrestedThe Thai police have arrested 2 French men who use counterfeit electronic cards to with draw almost 1 million baht from ATM machines in Pattya.
PATTAYA – January 11th 2016 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 4.00 p.m., Pol.Maj.Gen. Amphon Bua-rab-porn (Commander of Chon Buri Provincial police station), Pol.Col. Sukthas Phoomphanmuang (Superintendent of Pattaya city police station) and the Transnational Crime Coordination Centre (TCCC), Chon Buri province, together made a statement about the arrest of Mr. Rachid Zahoum, aged 32 and Mr. Youssef Diamane, aged 34 both French nationality who were caught with 32 counterfeit electronic cards, 1 credit card skimmer, 1 notebook computer and 7,000 THB cash.
The police were informed by the bank clerks of Siam Commercial Bank that there was a gang of foreigners who used counterfeit electronic cards to withdraw cash from ATM machines. Therefore, the police kept them under surveillance until they used the cards again in Soi Bua Khao. The police then arrested Mr. Rachid Zahoum and Mr. Youssef Diamane while they were withdrawing cash from the ATM of the Siam Commercial Bank, Bua Khao market branch.
Mr Rachid Zahoum and Mr Youssef Diamane told police that they got the counterfeit cards from his French friend and most of the cards belonged to foreigners. They also said that they had withdrawn almost 1 million THB. Therefore, the police had coordinated with the French Embassy and they are now awaiting a court appearance to be prosecuted.
