Free Optical Treatment At Pattaya City Hall

For the underprivileged Thai people in Pattaya’s community general medical help is available at very little cost, or no cost at all. However, many poor Thais do not realize that specialized medical services such as sight correction are also available free of charge.

Pattaya, the 26th of February 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: Recently Pattaya City Hall was made available for sight specialists to test and treat Thai citizens in our community who are on little or no income at all.

This was a one day event, attended by around 200 people who had vision problems, and they ranged in age from school children up to elderly pensioners, who were all very glad to receive assistance. Around six highly trained optometrists were on hand to perform testing with some very specialist equipment and assess each patient’s needs.

These free services even extended to the fitting of spectacles, and there was a large range of frames on hand to offer the right choice for all those who attended, even though there was a waiting period to receive some of the finished spectacles with the correct lenses. Pattaya City is indeed lucky to have such a well organized optometry program, as in country areas, poor Thai citizens are often left with no means gaining corrective sight services.
