Four Pathumtani Townhouses Collapse Dwellers In Panic

Four townhouses collapsed in a Pathumthani province. The locals in the 'mubaan', village were in panic but managed escape from danger. Tenporary housing in tents has been provided by the district officials.The cause of the collapse was extensive flooding which undermined the ground around the village, and probably too much additional home extension adding extra weight.

Pathumthani, September 26, 2011 [Pattaya Daily News]; Lamlukka police was notified by the locals of four collapsed townhouses in Chuan Yu Ville village located at Moo 8 Tambon Lumlukka.At scene the police found the first floor and the second floors of more than a hundred townhouses had collapsed.

Mrs. Kwanjit Pulthavee age 41, one of the owners of the four collapsed townhouses said that before the accident occurred, she was cooking in the kitchen, and suddenly the floor collapsed and she fell and was injured by the broken glass from the windows. A neighbor helped her to get out of the townhouse and sent her to the hospital.

Mr.Panuwat Janeprasert the district officer of Lumlukka confirmed that there were four collapsed townhouses, the cause may be from extented contruction with too much additional weight.

The police cordoned off the area due to safety precautions. A full investigation is under way to find the cause for this accident. The district office has provided temporary housing in tents for those who don’t have a place to live.
