The suspect was identified as Mr. Narong Pastranon, age 65, a former director of a well-known school in Rayong province, living at a residence on Soi Tharmmavittaya, Sattahip. Police seized the evidence of 10 pills of amphetamine and the 2,200 THB banknotes used in the lure purchase.

A prior police investigation had revealed the suspect had been selling amphetamines to groups of area teenagers, so a police undercover agent was sent to purchase 10 amphetamine pills for 2,200 THB.

When officers revealed themselves to arrest the suspect, he tried to escape by running out the back door of the house and climbing a 2-meter high fence. But he was closely followed by pursuing officers and caught.

After his arrest, Mr. Narong confessed to selling amphetamines for a long time to earn money to send to his imprisoned wife, identified as Mrs. Pawanrat Pastranon or Nong, age 59. Mrs. Pawanrat has been in Chonburi prison since 2009 for selling drugs.

The drug-dealing couple are both former school teachers. But their family had so many debts, they resorted to selling drugs to earn money to pay off the debts.

Mr. Narong has been previously arrested several times for drug dealing. But he said he was not afraid, because each time he was arrested, the people in the drug network would bail him out so he could sell drugs for them again.
