Pattaya, 9th March 2011 [Pattaya Daily News]: At 9:30 a.m., Mr. Chaichan Aiemcharoen, Sattahip District Chief Officer; Captain Suranan Saengrattanakul, Chief of Sattahip Drug Suppression Divsion and other officers arrested Ms. Pondsri Poonpoem (a.k.a. Kook), aged 29 (resides at No.54 Soontornpoo Soi, Tangkean, Klang, Rayong) with possession of 8,000 Amphetamines. The seize occurred at the halfway point between Rayong and Sattahip on 1 Junction, Sukhumwit no.3 Road, Sattahip, Chouri, while she was on her way to sell drugs in Sattahip.

The Drug Suppression Division followed a lead from a big drug network in Bangkok and Klongprem jail. The officer arrested a drug dealer who was also a member of the suspect’s network. The police sent an undercover agent to join the network and hence confirmed that the suspect has been hiding in Klaeng, Rayong.

After the suspect became acquainted with the undercover agent, together they transported 8,800 Amphetamines to Sattahip in a hired car. The police planned a sting operation, in which an order of 500 Amphetamines (costs 30,000 Baht cash) was made. When the suspect’s car stopped at a red light, 3 police cars surrounded them and the police team immediately made the arrest. The police searched the car and found another 8,300 Amphetamines and the cash from sting operation hidden in the suspect’s purse.

The suspect confessed that three and a half years ago, she was in Rayong jail for conviction of drug possession. While in prison, a jail inmate introduced her to the drug network, to which the suspect joined following her release. The suspect contacted a lead man, who identified himself as a police officer in Bangkok. He hired the suspect to pick up drugs on buses and transport them to different places in Pathumthani.

She has smuggled drugs for more than 10 times, dealing over 30,000 Amphetamines. She received payment to her bank accounts, which differed at every transection. The last payment was made after she took 20,000 pills (10 piles) on a bus from Pathumthani to her house in Klaeng, Rayong. She then distributed them to other minor drug networks. She planned to distribute 8,800 leftover drugs to 10 small dealers in Sattahip area. She also confessed later that she sold over 100,000 pills to Sattahip.
