FOREIGNER KILLED IN MOTORBIKE ACCIDENT

In what seems to be almost a daily occurrence, there was another fatal motorbike accident; this time in the Pratamnak area. A foreign man, who was speeding around a curved road, tried to avoid hitting a dog that was running across the road. The bike flipped over, sending the man onto the street. Another motorbike ran the man over, causing fatal injuries.

On 19 December 2007, at 4:30am, Police Major Chaiporn Tongnapien, an Investigation Officer, was informed that a fatal accident had occurred on Pratamnak Road, in front of Pattaya Soi 15/1, Moo 10, South Pattaya. A police team, along with Sawang Boriboon Rescue, rushed to the scene of the accident. There, officials found two motorbikes lying on the hazardously, curved road. The victim’s body also lay on the road. The victim has not yet been identified. His motorbike, a black Honda Air Best, license 9-4609, Pattaya was nearby. The other bike, belonging to Mr. Daniel Rajsky (35), from the Czech Republic, was a blue Yamaha Meo, license 18-1461, Banglamung. Mr. Rajsky was the rider of the motorbike. His girlfriend had been the pillion rider. Mr. Rajsky and his girlfriend sustained minor injuries. However, his girlfriend felt faint and was sent to Pattaya Memorial Hospital.

Police questioned Mr. Rajsky, who explained that he and his girlfriend were riding home on their motorbike from South Pattaya. As he was approaching the curve leading up the hill, he spotted the victim riding at high speed toward him, down the hill. All of a sudden, a dog ran across the road in front of the victim. The victim tried to avoid the dog, but was unable to stop the bike, which flipped over, causing the victim to bounce off the bike onto the road. Mr. Rajsky was unable to avoid the man and ran into him. The victim died immediately

Police inspected the area and the motorbikes lying at the side of the road. Witnesses confirmed Mr. Rajsky’s account of the accident. Police transferred the victim’s body to Banglamung Hospital and will attempt to locate his relatives.
