The investigation will take some time before it can be completed, Mr. Noppadon said, adding that he himself believed Mr. Yongyuth to be innocent.

Mr. Yongyuth, former deputy leader the of People Power Party, which forms the core of the six-party coalition government, earlier said he had been framed by a conspiracy of unidentified persons who wished to have the ruling party dissolved by court action. The Election Commission is to rule on the fate of Mr. Yongyuth next week.

Stressing that Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej is not a nominee of ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, the foreign minister urged the public to allow the current government to work for between three to six months before they could see its performance.

He said the cabinet would meet next Wednesday and discuss the posts of secretaries and advisors to the ministers.

Prime Minister Samak has expressed his opinion disagreeing with the idea of appointing 111 former senior executives of the court-disbanded Thai Rak Thai party, founded by Mr. Thaksin, to sit on the boards of state enterprises.

Mr. Samak said the banned executives of Thai Rak Thai should stay away from state enterprise boards for the time being to avoid any problems which could arise afterward. (TNA)
