On 1 November 2007, at 7 PM, Pattaya Investigator Police Lieutenant Colonel Thitiphong Suktien received a telephone call reporting a fire at X Zye Pub, located on Pattaya Third Road, Nongprue, Banglamung, Chonburi. Pattaya City Deputy Mayor Ronakit Akasing and a police team, along with ten fire brigade trucks, rushed to the fire. Sawang Boriboon Rescue, as well as ambulances from area hospitals also rushed to the scene.

The pub, which has a separate section, a juke box karaoke zone, had not yet opened for business. A voluminous amount of smoke was coming from the pub and staff members were rushing to move valuable items out of the pub.

Officials determined that the source of the fire was the air-conditioning control panel. The fire then spread to the sound insulation under the ceiling and spread throughout the area. It took about one hour to bring the fire under control. The fire caused damage to the air-conditioning control panel and the insulation under the ceiling, among other items. Four people suffered from smoke inhalation, but there were no serious injuries.

Mr. Smith Yamasmith, (74), the owner of X Zyte, said that a few staff members had just arrived for work. The fire started in the air-conditioning control panel and spread to the imported sound insulation under the ceiling. The material ignites easily but the fire spreads slowly. Fortunately, officials were able to bring the fire under control and put it out. This was the second fire at this pub. Damages were estimated at 200,000 baht. Officials have temporarily closed the pub for investigation.
