Father Ray Kids Sing For Pattaya Expats

The members of our original Pattaya City Expat Club (PCEC), were absolutely delighted by the singing performance of Christmas carols, staged by visiting children from the Father Ray Foundation in Pattaya. In conjunction with this the new Development Director, Mr. Mike Lancaster, showed a very remindful video of the good work carried out to help children and he stressed the need for donations.

Pattaya, – Sunday 20th November 2009 [Pattaya Daily News]: – This PCEC meeting was the final one before Christmas so the speech by Mr. Mike Lancaster was a fitting reminder that some children in Pattaya will go hungry this Christmas. With the spirit of Christmas in their hearts, the Pattaya City Expats Club generously gave each of the children a bag of gift items.

Mr. Lancaster is the current director of development for the Father Ray Foundation, explained to PDN, that the global economic crisis has severely affected the charity’s ability to provide cover for the ever increasing cases that are sent to them. With over 850 children and disabled kids currently in the care of the foundation, it has stretched their resources. They often outsource numerous cases to other organizations because many of these are specialists in certain fields, such as specialized hearing sight disabilities or AIDS. Mr. Lancaster stated that although the foundation had not been able to personally help all the people, they have never turned anyone in need down, one way or another.

In the last two years the foundation has had a further 200-people request the help of the foundation, so a significant increase of local and international fundraising is needed to be done in order to help all of the cases. Mr. Lancaster explained that there are no constraints on the assistance that the foundation will give, providing that the funds are there to accommodate these cases…

Finance for the foundation is solely done by fundraising events and donations from overseas as well as from within Thailand. The overseas donations constitute up to 70% of the money raised by the foundation, usually from people who have visited Pattaya and witnessed the work that The Father Ray Foundation has been doing. However, it must be said that various Thai’s and expats within the Kingdom also contribute a valuable source of funds to the cause.

The foundation has now started to produce and give away DVD’s documenting the help and support that the Father Ray Foundation provides to the children and disabled in need, with the aim that people who witness this moving documentary will want to contribute funds.
