After being released from prison on Friday, the three convicted EC officials were strictly warned, that under the terms of their release, they were to in no way attempt to influence the upcoming election.

After the three former EC officials, Pol. Gen. Vasana Puemlarp, Prinya Nakchudtree and Virachai Naewboonnian, were released from prison, their personal belongings were removed from the EC premises on Friday. The work was performed by men who had no connection with the election panel.

The former EC officials had each been previously sentenced to four years in prison after their illegal mishandling of the April 2nd general election.

Poll officials, who formerly worked under the orders of the three former commissioners, were aware of the conditions of their release. Not wanting to have their former bosses bail revoked, they made no attempt to contact them, not even by telephone.

Election Commissioner Secretary General Pol. Maj-Gen Ekkachai Varunprapha has been pressed to step down since the three were taken into custody. He has recently said that he would prefer not to work amid the allegations that he had been so close to the former commissioners.
