Family Of Four Flees From Burning Car Wreck

A Toyota Camry sedan with an LPG gas tank swerved to avoid hitting a motorcycle, but overturned into a drainage channel and burst into flames. A family of four was inside the vehicle, but escaped safely from the overturned car through a window. The accident occurred on Sukhumvit Road near Jomtien.

PATTAYA – March 22, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; At 1 p.m., a report of a car equipped with an LPG tank overturning and catching fire was received by Pol. Lt. Col. Kingsawat, detective inspector of the shift, Jomtien police station. He asked for support forces and called the Jomtien district fire truck.

The incident occurred on Sukhumvit Rd. Km. 157, Pattaya-Sattahip, in front of Ocean Marina dock, Moo 3, Jomtien, Sattahip. Officers arrived at the scene and saw the burning vehicle in a water draining channel in the middle of the road.

The bronzeToyota Camry with an installed LPG tank was lying upside down, its tires pointed to the sky. The flames from the burning Camry were causing a lot of smoke. Firefighters took about 10 minutes to extinguish the flames.

A family of four who had been in the car escaped with no injuries. The driver, Mr. Watcharapon Siriworapas, 42 years old, with his wife and 2 sons, had crawled out from the car in time to escape injury and death.

Mr. Watcharapon told police he was driving the car from his house in Pattaya to take his sons to a special class at Maryvit Sattahip. But a motorcycle suddenly cut in front of his car. So he swerved his car to avoid a collision.

But he lost control of the vehicle, which flipped over into the water drainage channel and then started burning. But he kept calm and brought his family out from the car through the window.
