Fake Pattaya Cop Steals “Louis” Bag Worth 300,000 THB

A thief pretending to be a Thai policeman went to a furniture shop ordered pieces for 50,000 THB and as the woman, the owner of the shop turned her back, the "cop" stole her Louis Vuitton leather bag with cash and belongings inside worth 300,000 THB. The thief escaped. The police is on the case.

Pattaya, December 20, 2011 [Pattaya Daily News]; Pol. Maj. Chitdecha Songhong, Pattaya police went to inspect Sun Beach Furniture shop located at Third Pattaya road, Central Pattaya 394/115-116 Moo 9, Banglamung, Chonburi province after being notified by the owner whose handbag was stolen by a thief who claimed to be a police officer. The fake cop ordered furniture, stole her “Louis” bag with stuff worth more than 300,000 THB and disappeared.

At the scene of the two room furniture shop, the owner Ms. Rassamee Goldepan age 34, said, that before incident took place a car appeared. She did not recognize the brand. It was in bronze color, decorated with speed stripes.

The driver parked in front in front of the shop and a rather fat Thai male, 165 cm. short hair with brown jacket and jeans walked in to the shop and ordered furniture for 50,000 THB. He said he was with the Banglamung police and signed the order form in the name of Pol. Sen. Sgt. Maj. Wichai Sukkasem and told her that there will be a foreigner coming to pay the whole amount in a few minutes.

He let her wait for a while and then stepped out and parked his car at the back of the shop in Soi Bongkot and told her that the foreigner was on his way. The owner believed the man and sat down to do the accounts. As usual she put down her “Louis” bag about one meter away from her.

After 10 minutes, her bag was gone and the guy had disappeared. And no foreigner turned up to pay for the furniture. She realized the guy had stolen her bag with the following content: cash 20,000 THB, diamond bracelet, diamond ring, credit card and a Blackberry smart phone, phone. Total value 300,000 THB.

She had asked her staff but no one had seen her bag. Ms. Rassamee contacted the police. Pol. Capt. Chitdecha Songhong said that the thief is not a professional criminal and the name that he signed in the order form was a fake name. There was is officer with this name at the station. The police asked the neighborhood people, the taxi motorbike riders and other eventual witnesses to identify the bronze car and the driver.
