Fake Monks Caught Red Handed For Illegally Collecting Money

Naval officers have arrested 3 fake monks after local people reported them to the police for collecting money in the Sattahip area.

PATTAYA – September 10, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 13.00 pm CAPT.Kompan Ouppalanon led a team to arrest 3 fake monks which consisted of Mr.Manit Keaowsen aged 32, Mr.Pattana Chujit aged 30 and Mr.Songkran Klaising aged 19 in case of illegally collecting contributions from others. They were arrested as they were collecting money in Sattahip market.


CAPT.Kompan revealed that previously they had been notified by some villagers that there were some monks who had collected money from people. Therefore the officials went to investigate and found 3 monks collecting money from people. When the monks saw the police they tried to flee the scene but the police arrested them. Upon questioning them they had no monk ID cards. Plus the officers asked the temple about the monks and they said that they don’t collect money like that, so the police took them to the police station to be prosecuted.

Upon questioning them they confessed that they knew that the temple is going to construct a new building so they decided to ask for donation packs for the temple. Later they rented a car and started collecting money in Sattahip because they could make more money because they knew people would donate to the temple.
