Pattaya, 6th September 2010 [Pattaya Daily News] At approximately 6.30am Police Lieutenant Ratti Wongwet (Banglamung Police Investigator) was informed by a local resident who had found explosives on the road side at Soi Sukhumvit, Pattaya 27, 500 meters from Banglamung Police Station, Moo 4, Banglamung. After reporting to the commander, a police team went to the scene to investigate.

On arrival, the officers discovered 2 sticks of dynamites wrapped with newspaper that the local resident had moved close to the fence of PVA Banglamung Auto Car company located at the beginning the Soi. The investigating officer realised that one of them was a smooth form of dynamite similar to the M26 explosive that was ready to ignite. Another bomb was a bamboo flask form, 4 inches in length, covered with green tape. Its toggle was also ready for igniting. Subsequently the officer covered them with a car tyre to prevent any immediate danger. In addition the local residents were asked to keep a fair distance from them.

At a brief investigation, it was found that some witnesses drove pass the scene and noticing the suspicious materials on the road, picked them up moving them to the roadside before informing the police. The officer inspected the area, but found nothing suspicious.  The owner of the Car Store had seen nothing untoward and had no knowledge as to who may have left the bombs.

The officer presumed that the explosives may have been prepared in order to commit a crime, but had been dropped, causing worry to the owner about picking them up. Or maybe it was intended by the offender to put the explosive at the scene hoping someone would find the explosives and dispose of them. Both the explosives were discovered to be seriously dangerous.

However the officer will check the CCTV installed nearby in order to find any relating evidence, and search for the offenders to bring them to justice. The Explosive Recovering Unit will come to investigate the materials before destroying them.
