Pattaya, 12 May 2011 [Pattaya Daily News]: Police Colonel Sakrapi Peawpanich (Superintendent of Lamchabang Police Department) was informed that a group of people were digging up lateritic soil at Hoobthapong Mountain, violating the forest conservation regulations.

At the scene, a yellow Komatsu excavator of Pornwattana Construction Co. Ltd was digging into the ground while another eight trucks waited to transport the soil, an officer said.

According to the police, the excavator driver failed to provide the certificate of land ownership upon request.

The driver said he will contact the owner of Pornwattana Construction Co. Ltd for the permit and will show it to the police later, an official reported.

However, all drivers were forced to cease working until a legitimate permit was provided, Colonel Sakrapi said, adding that all trucks were detained for further investigation.

When the police receive the certificate of land ownership, they examine the document which must meet the guidelines of Chonburi Provincial Land Officer and Forest Officer, Colonel Sakrapi stated
