European ATM Skimming Gang Arrested

Pattaya police have arrested a European ATM skimmer gang who drew money out using fake ATM cards and then sent the money back to their home countries.

CHONBURI – May 25,2015 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 10.00 a.m. Pol.Lt.Gen. Thanet Pinmueang-ngarm (Commissioner of Provincial Police, Section 2), Deputy Commissioner of Provincial Police, Section 2, and Pol.Maj.Gen Nitiphong Niamnoi (Commander of Chon Buri Provincial Police Station) together made a statement about the arrest of an European counterfeiting gang that used counterfeit electronic cards. The gang was identified as Mr. Terrance Walter, aged 66, British nationality, Mr. Florin Podaru, aged 27, Romanian nationality and Mr. Bogdan Maiho Taralunga, aged 37, Romanian nationality. They were all arrested at an ATM machine near a shop at the beginning of Soi Pornpraphanimit 13, Tambon Nong Prue, Amphur Banglamung, Chon Buri province. They were caught with passports, 43 counterfeit electronic cards, 1 information recorder, 1 skimmer which had been installed into the ATM machine, white plastic cards (to be used for counterfeiting credit cards) and 1 notebook computer.


After questioning the gang further the police were also able to arrest Mr. Niran Rattanawichai, aged 29, Miss Roongthiwa Singchai, aged 29, and Mr. Tianchai Seemarksuk, aged 29. They were arrested at Chok Chai village, no. 52/165 Moo 5 Tambon Nong Prue, Amphur Banglamung, Chon Buri province. They were caught with 9.13 g of methamphetamines that were contained in 5 plastic bags, 2 mobile phones, 1 shotgun with 21 bullets and 1 Honda Civic car. The police charged them with drug possession and having a firearm without permission.
