PATTAYA – July 9, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]; At 1 a.m., Pol.Lt.Capt. Pallop Ringrod, vice crime suppression inspector of Pattaya Police Station, Chonburi, heard reports that a man was chopped by a knife with near fatal wounds at a frozen cocktail bar named Son Khontai, located at the corner near Euro Grand Hotel in soi Bongkot , moo 9, tambon Nongprue, amphoe Banglamung, Chonburi. The injured man was reported to be about 200 meters from the bar.

Several police officer were sent in response, along with the rescue team from Sawang Boriboon Foundation Pattaya, who were called to aid the victim. At the crime scene, they found the injured man, Mr. Komkrit Mangmee, 27, who was living in a house at 83 tambon Koklan , amphoe Taphraya, Sakaeo. He was sitting on a chair, still bleeding heavily from many large wounds on his body: in the middle of his head, nape of his neck, his upper right arm, left shoulder, and the back of his left hand.

Mr. Komkrit was crying in pain from his deadly injuries. Many people were standing nearby to comfort him, telling him to be patient and wait for the rescue team. The arriving rescue team gave him a first aid, then sent him to Banglamung hospital. His wife also went to the hospital with him.

Many witnesses told police that they saw Mr. Komkrit being chopped brutally many times by the enraged bartender. Mr. Komkrit had run for his life to beg for help in the front area of the market, yelling for people to call his wife and the police. Meanwhile the knife-wielding bartender ran to hide in the bar before the police arrived.

Police officers found the Son Khontai bartender hiding behind the bar counter and arrested him. After questioning, he said his name is Mr. Jatupol Sankrajai, or “Boy,” age 30, and living in the house at 50/259, moo 5 , tambon Nongprue, amphoe Banglamung, Chonburi .

At the time of his arrest Mr. Jatupol was not wearing a shirt, and denied stabbing the victim. But police officers found his discarded shirt, which was stained by the victim’s blood. After Mr. Jatupol was confronted by the evidence, he confessed that he had chopped Mr. Komkrit with a knife, and had asked his friend to hide the knife in a room on the second floor. Police officers found the knife, which was 30-inches long and shaped like a samurai sword. The knife handle also had blood stains on it.

During questioning by police, Mr. Jatupol, or “Boy,” said that while he was working, Mr. Komkrit had walked into the bar and asked to see Sia Son, the bar owner, who was not in the bar at the time.

“Boy” then told Mr. Komkrit to wait, but he instead got upset and said bad things about wanting to make trouble. Mr. Komkrit then said he would return to hurt the bartender, so “Boy” got furious and did not want to be patient anymore. So he snatched his samurai sword that he kept behind the bar to run after and chop Mr. Komkrit. “Boy” did not halt his murderous attack until Mr. Komkrit ran to beg for help from other people.

“Boy” retreated to hide inside the bar, taking off his shirt and hiding his knife before he got arrested. Mr. Jatupol continued that the reason that he hurt Mr. Komkrit was because the man came to make trouble with him first, but “Boy” had not made trouble with him before, so he chopped Mr. Komkrit without halting.

However, the police officers are not really convinced by Mr. Jatupol’s statements. They believe that there must have been previous trouble between the two. The police will wait until Mr. Komkrit is well enough to answer questions, to find the real cause behind the savage attack. Meanwhile, they arrested Mr. Jatupol and seized the blood-stained knife as evidence, and are further questioning Mr. Jatupol to prosecute him by law afterwards.
