Elephants and Citizens Paraded to Raise Awareness of Election in Sattahip

Sattahip June 24, 2011 (PDN), Mr Chanchai Earmcharoen, Sutthahip district officer, Mr Veera Supajitthananun,Chairman of Election Committee of Area 8, Chonburi, Mr Sornchai Thongyungyeun, Chief Executive of Najomtien Subdistrict Administrative Organization and Mr Kasem Hosuwan, Mayor of Kledkeaw Subdistrict Municipality in cooperation with Mr. Kumpon Tansujja, director of Nongnuch Garden Pattaya raised the election awareness from local citizens by organizing a parade of people and 30 elephants from Nongnuch Garden.

The 8-year old elephant named “Yok” demonstrated how to drop the ballot paper into the election box. The display brought cheers from the Thai and foreign spectators.

Mr Kumpon Tansujja, director of Nongnuch Garden Pattaya said that Nongnuch Garden wanted to raise the awareness from people especially who reside in the election area 8, Chonburi for the upcoming election which will take place on July 3, 2011.

Mr. Chanchai Earmcharoen, Sattahip district officer stated that Sutthahip district realized of the importance of the election. Thus, the Sattahip district in cooperation of Nongnuch Garden Pattaya, Chairman of Election Committee of Area 8, Najomtien Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Kledkeaw Subdistrict Municipality and Sattahip Technical College and citizens raised the awareness of the coming election by this parade in order encourage people to use their right to vote in the general election.
