An operator revealed that the business had been going for a decade but tourists now prefer elephant rides through forests and woodlands. As a result, several operators invested in another elephant camp which are owned by foreigners and they have taken all the experienced mahouts from the old camps. Therefore, the old camps owned by Thais have lost a lot of business.
