PATHUM THANI – March 11, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; the journalists reported that Mr. Akkhawat Sornphrom (the eldest son who was the murderer) confessed that he murdered his parents and his younger brother on the same day they ate Thai barbeque pork at home, his father also persuaded him to drink beer with him. After drinking beer with his father he wanted to drive the family car to go and pick up his girlfriend so he could introduce her for his parents, but upon asking his mother she wouldn’t allow him to go as he had been drinking a lot of beer and she was afraid that he might have an accident. This made the son very angry.

At first Mr. Akkhawat said that “At 3.00 a.m. he heard a noise in his parents’ bedroom so I walked upstairs to see what happened then I knocked the door but nobody replied so I thought that they were sleeping so he ran out to the front of the house to see whether anyone came out to see what the noise was but nobody came. He then said that he went back to bed and woke up at approximately 8.00 a.m. to go to university. Whilst at university he called his parents many times but they didn’t answer. He then told police that he called his aunt to go and check on his family and he would meet her there but when arriving home the house was very quiet and the door to his parents’ bedroom was still locked. He then told police that last night his father argued with his younger brother due to his school-grades were dropping so my parents seized his mobile phone.

However, after questioning Mr. Akkhawat for over 9 hours he confessed to the murders of his parents and his younger brother. The police arranged officers to watch over him because they were afraid that he might commit suicide because he may be punished for his crime with execution.

Mr. Akkhawat revealed about his murder method was that he mixed soluble sleeping pills with water but his parents and his younger brother didn’t fall asleep so he then went to buy liquid hypnotic drugs but he dropped it on the floor and broke it. Later (on the incident day) his mother scolded him which made him angry. At around 3.00 a.m. he went to the second floor and found his father bag which contained a gun inside so he thought to shoot his mother but he was afraid that his father and his younger brother would wake up and see him so he decided to shoot all of them.
After Mr. Akkhawat had killed all of his family’s members he was afraid of the penalty for his offence so he put the gun in his younger brother’s hand in order to put the blame on him, he then drove away and acted like he could not contact his parents so he asked his aunt to check on them whilst he went to pick up his girlfriend so she could act as a witness.

Furthermore, Mr. Akkhawat also confirmed that the cause that he murders was not about the life insurance.
