Elderly Disabled Woman Burns To Death

An elderly bed ridden woman burnt to death after a fire swept through her house while her husband was at work. The cause of the fire may have been an electrical short circuit.

SATTAHIP – February 11,2015 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 3.30 a.m., Pol.Lt. Pornchai Lueaphon (police on duty of Phlu Ta Luang police station) was notified that there was a fire and 1 victim had died in house no. 36, Sri Praphat old market community, km 10, Moo 1 Tambon Phlu ta Luang, Amphur Sattahip, Chon Buri province, so he rushed to inspect at scene together with fire trucks of Phlu Ta Luang Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Sattahip Municipality and Ban Chang Municality.

At an incident was a 1-storey wooden house with a galvanized iron roof that was located on the side of road in front of Queen Sirikit hospital that was engulfed in flames. The officers of Sattahip Electricity Authority had to cut the electricity off before the 3 fire trucks could spray water onto the fire. It took 1 hour to bring the fire under control. From inspecting the house officers found 1 deceased who was identified as Mrs. Non Jaithiangthae or Jae Oy, aged 57.

Upon questioning Mr. Samruay Sa-moot-ra-pao-ra-ya, aged 59, who was the husband of the deceased, he told the police that he had been living in this house for over 40 years with his wife of 10 years and the last 6 months his wife had been sick and couldn’t walk. When he went out to work as a pork vendor after working for a few hours he noticed smoke in the sky where he lives so he rushed home and found his house on fire but he couldn’t go into his house to help his wife because the fire was too strong.

Pol.Lt. Porchai Lueaphon said that the cause of this fire might be an electrical short circuit because the house was very old and there were many electric wires hanging off the electricity posts. However, he had already coordinated with the officers of the Scientific Crime Detection Division to inspect the scene in order to find the cause of the incident.
