Early Morning Deadly Crash

An early morning Crash results in 1 dead, 1 injured and 3 escaped injury.

On the 23rd January 2011 [Pattaya Daily News]: Police Lieutenant Sompon Nakampan, investigation official, Police Station Na Jomtien, Sattahip, Chonburi, were notified about an accident resulting in a truck crashing and laying at rest crashed into a light pole, with 1 injured and 1 dead. The accident occurred at 03.30 a.m. located at Sukhumvit Rd 163, Sattahip- Pattaya, by the resort Sea Sand Sun and Spa, at Moo 8 Na Jomtien Sattahip. After the notification, investigation officials and a rescue foundation team hurried to the scene.

Two young men hired to drive a 6-wheeled truck, carrying soil, went to celebrate and drink/ intoxicate themselves at a famous pub in Sattahip, then speed riding back home in their truck. On their way, another racing pick-up truck, sped past in front of them, causing the driver of the 6-wheeler truck to lose control, causing it to travel off the road, crashing into a wall that collapsed from the impact, while continuing to skid and hitting a security-man hut of the resort complex and slamming into an nearby light pole. The driver was thrown from it and died on the spot.

The truck was a 4 door, black Mitsubishi Tyron (license ฌล – 762 Bangkok). The vehicle crashed into the wall, then into the security guard hut of the Sea Sand Sun and Spa resort, before crashing into the light pole and then coming to rest. The truck was flipped over onto its left side with extensive damage. The driver Mr. Amnaaj Buanoi, 37, (residence: 34/1 Moo 6 Na Jomtien, Sattahip) fell out of the truck during the accident, and died on the spot. The passenger, Mr. Banya Limpakdidee, 35, (residence: 79/4 Moo 6 Na Jomtien, Sattahip) has only received slight injuries and a hurting right hand. The 3 security guards of the Resort Complex had no apparent injuries.

Mr. Banya said that, he and his friend, Mr. Amnaaj being the driver, had been drinking at an entertainment venue, nearby Baan Dtao Taan Market Moo 3, Sattahip. Both were hired as 6-wheeled, soil-carrying, truck drivers. After the pub closed they went driving home, When they came upon the junction where the accident happened, a bronze Isuzu Dimax pick-up truck raced through a u-turn, cutting in front of Mr. Amnaaj’s truck, who then tried to avoid the speeding other truck, but lost control, resulting in the truck crashing into the walls of the Resort, it’s security hut, and eventually colliding with the light pole, the driver fell out of the car dying on the spot. Mr. Banya had to calm down first, and concentrate before being able to get himself out of the car.

Reporters say that; according to Mr. Jirawan Thongaraksit, 46, the security guard of the resort, he and his 2 other security-guard friends nearly got involved in the accident themselves, and survived by chance. Mr. Jirawan, along with Mr.Damrong Ajkong, 38, and Mr.Amnaj Kuangaj, 40, normally took turns on going on patrol, with 1 or 2 of the guards usually staying in the hut, which is right at the front gate of the resort and scene of the crash. Fortunately, at the time of the accident, all 3 guards were outside of the hut, enjoying the fresh, cool air and being on patrol. When the truck crashed, making a huge noise, all 3 had to run in different directions for their lives, as the truck continued tumbling. None of the guards were injured.
