Phuket – January 15,2013; The announcement contradicts earlier reports from reporters who witnessed the autopsy and were told by the doctor who carried it out that he had found no water in Mr Buczynski’s lungs.

This afternoon Pol Lt Col Angkanit Danpitaksat, Deputy Superintendent of Kathu Police Station, told The Phuket News, “It has been confirmed by a doctor at Patong Hospital that Mr Buczynski drowned.”

He added that Mr Buczynski’s corpse had been sent to the National Forensics Institute in Bangkok for definitive confirmation of the cause of death.

Questions were raised about a deep cut in the back of Mr Buczynski’s head. Police now theorise that it may have been caused by a boat propeller.
