Dutch Drug Smuggler Arrested In Pattaya

Pattaya police have arrested a Dutch man after he was hunted by German officials for smuggling Cannabis into Germany.

PATTAYA – February 20,2015 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 00.10 am Pol.Maj.Gen.Thamrong Saengwattanakul-commander-, Pol.Maj.Gen.Apichart Suriboonya-commander-, Pol.Col.Thienwirot Chiewchan-superintendent- were accompanied with immigration police to arrest a Mr.Ronel Cornelis aged 42 from the Netherlands at the Planet Earth Beach Club according to a German arrest warrant for drugs.

 

The immigration police and police had tracked Mr.Ronel for 4 months until they found out that he had been hiding in Pattaya and had been here since the 25th March 2012. He had been hunted by German officials after he had smuggled cannabis into Germany, Italy and other European countries in 2009 at a value of around 180,000 Euros before he disappeared. Later German official found out that he was hiding in Thailand.

Upon questioning Mr.Ronel Cornelis he had immigrated to Thailand as tourist and hid in Pattaya. Plus, his Visa had expired. He will now be sent back to his home country.
