PATTAYA – March 19, 2013, at 3 a.m., a report of a driver losing control and overturning his car was received by Pol. Lt. Col. Attharos Krongrach, investigation officer, Pattaya police station, Dongtarn curve sub-branch, Chonburi province.

The incident occurred at the U-turn nearby the exit sign of Pattaya city limits, at the entrance side to Amphur Sattahip, Moo 12 Tambon Nong Preu, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province.

Officers arrived at the scene on the right side of Sukhumvit Road, and saw an overturned car lying on the side of the road. The damaged vehicle was a bronze color Toyota Vios.

The driver was only slightly injured, and identified as Mr. Amphorn Duangwong, age 40, from Tambon Koodnamsai, Amphur Khorwang, Yasothorn province.

Police questioned Mr. Amphorn, who was severely drunk. He told officers that he is a general contractor. Earlier that night, he went to drink liquor with his friends at a restaurant in Pattaya.

He was driving back home afterwards on Soi Khao Noi, but because he was drunk, he drove beyond the soi of his house. When he approached the outer end of the Pattaya city area, he wondered why he still did not arrive at his home.

Suddenly he saw the shadow of the tree on the side of the road. But it looked to him like it was a pedestrian crossing in front of his car. So he swerved his car to avoid a collision, and his car overturned.

Police investigated the scene in detail and made notes for evidence. They restrained Mr. Amphorn to investigate further and prosecute him according to the law.
