PATTAYA – July 28, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]; At 1:20 a.m., the rescue team from Sawang Boriboon Pattaya Chonburi went to check a report of a man drowning in front of the Royal Garden Plaza in Pattaya.

At the scene, they found a dark-skinned man lying on beach who looked like a foreigner, about 30 years old, apparently drunk, with saliva flowing out of his nostrils and mouth. He was choking as people crowded around him.

A witness said the man had been drinking at the beach while wearing a blue security uniform. After he got drunk, he took off his shirt and walked into the sea as if he wanted to swim, or perhaps kill himself.

He had only swum a short while, appearing to choke and nearly drown before he emerged from the water and lay on the shoreline, where he passed out. Several passing tourists feared he would be dragged out by a wave, so they brought him further up the beach and called the rescue team

The rescue team performed first aid and saw his condition was critical, so they sent him to the hospital.

Rescuers examined the shirt the man was wearing, which was from a Pattaya security company. They informed the company that he worked with about the incident. They also called his relatives to go to the hospital to look after him.
