Drunk American Smashes Pick Up Into Motorbike In Pattaya – Two Women Seriously Injured

A heavily drunk American man ran his truck into a motorbike seriously injuring two Thai women and then attempted to run away.

At 03.00 am. on 27th December Pol. Lt. Col. Chalermkiat Sirimas received a phone call about a serious accident at the three way junction of Tappraya and Tepprasit road. Two women on a motorbike had been hit by a truck and left in a very serious condition. Police and a rescued team rushed to the scene.

At the junction, near the entrance of Grand Condotel, Moo. 12, police found a pool of blood on the road. The two victims, Miss Sakorn Klabklang [26] and Miss Ploypan Kotsanlee [33] were lying 500 meters away from where the accident took place. The rescue team immediately gave them first aid and rushed them to Banglamung Hospital. Later on, the officials rushed to Soi Pratumnak 6 where they were informed the victims’ motorbike had been found and the truck’s driver arrested.

In the middle of the Soi police found a blue Yamaha Meo, registration no. 136 Chonburi, which was badly damaged and 200 meters away, they found an American man, Mr. Chris Holmes [51] who was in a severely drunken state. Police arrested him and impounded his pick up truck, a black Mitsubushi Triton, registration no. 3306, Chonburi.

            Eyewitnesses told the police that Mr. Holmes was driving very fast from Jomtien, heading along Tappraya road and crashed into the victims’ motorbike, which was driving towards him. The victims were thrown off the bike onto the road, while their motorbike was still attached to his truck and pulled along into Soi 6.

Mr. Holmes tried to deny that he had run into anybody. However, he was taken to the police station where proceedings would be taken against him.
