Drug Dealers Apprehended in Successful Sting Operation

A successful sting operation in Pattaya nets drug dealers along with a large amount of the Class 1 drug Ya-Ba and unlicensed firearms.

Pattaya 4th September 2010 [Pattaya Daily News], On the 3rd September at 3.30 pm, the Nongkham against Drugs police from Bangkok, ordered a batch of drugs on the phone before successfully apprehending the net work of drug dealers in Sriracha in a sting operation. The successful operation was in conjunction with the Pattaya Police.

 

The arrested suspects included Mr. Withoon Sawangsri (32) from Bowin, Sriracha along with a Honda Wave motorbike and 1,900 pills of Ya-ba, Miss Tuenjai Srisuwan (26) with 2,000 pills Ya- ba, a Toyota Fortuna car and a .38 gun. Both suspects were sent to Nongkham police station to continue with interrogations and the judicial procedure.

Mr. Phansiri Sitthithun, the main target who had carried a huge amount of drugs managed to escape, but the Pattaya Police had been contacted and a team was ordered to follow him. 

During the early hours in Pattaya, on the next day [ 4th of September], at approximately 12.30am, Police Lieutenant Colonel Nunthawut Suwanla-ong (Pattaya Police Superintendent) and his deputy worked in conjunction with Police Major Anek Butin (Nongkham against Drug Police Chief Inspector) and his team, along with Mr. Anurak Thantha (Drug Suppression Region 2 Investigator) in order to apprehend the well known drug dealer, Mr. Phansiri Sitthithun,  in front of the seven eleven shop on Soi 12 Jomtien Beach Road, Moo 12, Nongprue, Banglamung. They had information that the dealer would be transferring drugs to sell at the scene and would be driving a black Isuzu D-max pick up. The task force lay in wait for the offender.

Subsequently, the pickup approached the scene driven by a Thai man. He was instantly arrested by the officers in front of Seven Eleven mini-mart. The officer searched the suspect for his identification. Known as Mr. Phansiri Sitthithun [36] from Soi Ladphraw 87, Bangkok, it was discovered that he had a huge stash of drugs hidden in a large belt bag on his person.

In his belt bag, there were 4 packs of Ya-ba covered wrapped in brown paper. In each pack the Ya-ba was contained in 10 blue plastic bags with 200 pills each with a Total of 8,000 pills found. In addition, it was found that 8 plastic bags contained 11.67 grams of Ya-ice. Furthermore, a Six Sour shotgun-P229-9mm. without a registration number along with 12 9mm bullets were found. All evidence was kept by officers, including the pick up before restraining the suspect at the Pattaya Police Station.

The officer informed the suspect of the charges which included the use of class1 drugs Ya-ba, driving while using a class 1 drug Ya-ba, possession of the class 1 drug Ya-ba in order to sell and carrying a weapon in a public area without a license.

Mr. Sitthithun admitted that all the drugs and gun belonged to him but did not sign the statement. It was known that Mr. Sitthithun picked up the drugs from Pattaya Prison and normally left them along the electricity posts for customers.

He was sent to the Pattaya Police Investigator to continue the judicial procedures.
