Pattaya, the 13th of November 2009 (PDN): Police Lieutenant General Krub Intkeow, chief investigator with the Pattaya Police, received a report at 3:45am on Friday that a drive-by shooting had occurred. The report stated that the “2 Setangs” cocktail bar at the intersection of Soi Nernplabwan and Railway Road Pattaya, had received extensive damage from gun fire, however there were fortunately no dead or wounded.

Police attended the scene to find that the front steel roller door of the cocktail bar contained 10 bullet holes and that the side window had been shattered. Within 20 meters of the shop, near the intersection was evidence of 6 bullet casings from a 9mm handgun. The shells and bullets retrieved from the door were collected by police as evidence.

After interviewing Mr Dookdin Thawaiporn age 33, (the owner of the cocktail bar), it was found that Mr Thawaiporn and 3 friends had been drinking inside the bar with the front roller door down, from around 2:00am (closing time). At approximately 3:00am whilst outside the shop Mr Thawaiporn observed two young men riding a blue and black Honda Wave, wearing black overcoats and helmets pulling up opposite the bar. Standing to investigate whether the two men were his friends Mr Thawaiporn said that the pair rode the motorbike further up towards the Railway Road were the youth on the rear of the bike proceeded to pull out a pistol and start firing upon the cocktail bar. Mr Thawaiporn explained that he quickly ran back inside the bar to protect himself from the gunfire. When the firing stopped Mr Thawaiporn observed the two culprits riding off in the direction of Siam Country Club Road.

When police questioned Mr Thawaiporn as to why this incident may have occurred, it was explained to them that he had recently purchased the cocktail bar from a friend. Mr Thawaiporn also stated that he had not had an altercation with anyone he has dealt with in the area, and as such does not understand why this event has taken place.

Police filed a report on the incident, collecting all the evidence from the scene which they will now use in an attempt to apprehend the two young gunmen in black.
