DOZED OFF NEWS EDITOR INJURED IN CAR ACCIDENT

Long hours at work; an editor of tourist and police news dozed off and caused the car to turn over while driving back home. Fortunately, he scrambled out safely.

On 17 November 2007, at 07.20AM, Rojanathamasathan rescue Sattahip, was informed by a Samaritan that a green Izusu minivan, Cameo, license 5335, Bangkok, had overturned, leaning against a new military training center sign, Sukhumvit road No. 3, Pattaya-Sattahip, 166th kilometer, in front of Krathom Ta-Yai car care, Bangsaray, Sattahip, Chonburi. The injured man had been trapped inside and managed to climb out safely.

The rescue team rushed to the incident and found Mr. Pochara Sirikul, (47), an editor of tourist and provincial police news, Code No. 205/49, living at 130/30, Moo 7, Plu-talueng, Sattahip, Chonburi. Mr. Pochara had sustained injury on his face and bleeding heavily. Rescue team helped doing first aid on his injured part and transferred him to emergency room at Somdet Pranang Jao Sirikit hospital, Naval base, Plutalueng, Sattahip.

Mr. Phochara was questioned how he had got into the accident. He said that, this morning, he drove the minivan from Pattaya city to go back to his home at Moo Baan Fah Nawee, Soi Khao Mhon. He felt dozy but attempted to bear the tiredness and carried on driving as it was only a short distance to get back home. It was about the time that the Sun started to rise and the sunlight got into his eyes. As he was coming close to the incident, he had a doze off and caused the car to turn over. He managed to open the left car door and scrambled out safely but got a severe injury.
