Divine Wrath Punishes Sinful Couple Stealing From Temples

A newlywed couple was arrested for stealing from donation boxes at temples in Lampang. They used the money to pay for drugs and their recent wedding. Shortly before their arrest, they had a simultaneous dream where a legendary Thai princess warned them to return the stolen money.

LAMPANG – July 30, 2012[Pattaya Daily News]; The arrest of a thieving couple was announced at the Lampang provincial police division by Pol.Maj.Gen. Pornchai Pakpongsri-commissioner of Lampang provincial police, and the investigation forces from Toongfai.

The arrested husband and wife were identified as Mr. Pongsiri Pokaew, from Chonburi; and Ms. Ew Sapshungam, 21, from Lampang. The seized evidence included 4,702 baht in cash, and a blue Kawasaki motorcycle, registration sign-439 Lampang.

On July 30, monks from several temples came to identify the suspects. The couple had been breaking into and stealing from seven temples, as well as other important places in Lampang, stealing more than 70,000 baht. The suspects confessed that they used the money for their July 19 wedding, and for buying drugs.

The suspects also said that in the morning of July 29, before they got arrested, they both dreamed that they saw Phra Supankanlaya standing in front of them and staring at them. The vision in their dream warned them to return all the money.

Then in the early morning the guilty couple heard Thai classical music and xylophone playing loudly in their ears. Later that morning they got arrested.
