Banglamung, Chonburi Police Lieutenant Colonel Jakariin Toasupap was notified, on 8 January 2008, at 1am, that a man had hung himself in Room 10, in a house, at no. 324/9 Soi Mab-yai-lia, Banglamung, Chonburi. A police team, along with Sawang Boriboon Rescue, rushed to the house to investigate.

At the house, officials found the body of Mr. Isara Dowreung (26), originally from 1036/147 Moo 15, Bangsowtong, Samutprakarn, hanging from the ceiling fan in his room. He was in a kneeling position with a rope around his neck. The deceased man, clad in a red T-shirt and white shorts, was, apparently, dead for about two hours.

There were no wounds on his body or other evidence of foul play. The deceased man’s wife, Miss Supaporn Chamchoi (26), from Ang-thong Province, said that she and Mr. Bangsowtong had been married for quite a while and had a four-month-old daughter.

On the evening that the incident occurred, Miss Supaporn had left for her job at an eyeglass shop in Royal Garden Shopping Plaza and had left her daughter in the care of her younger brother, Mr. Panuwat Chanchoi (24), who lives in Room 3 in the same building. Her husband, Mr. Isara, who was unemployed, stayed alone in their room.

When Miss Supaporn returned home from work, she knocked on her door, but her husband did not respond. She went to pick up her daughter from her brother’s room, and all three of them went back to her room and knocked on the door again. There was still no response. They finally broke into the room and, to their horror, discovered Mr. Isara’s body suspended from the ceiling fan. Miss Supaporn said that she had no idea why her husband had taken his life, as he had never mentioned any serious problems to her.

Police surmised that Mr. Isara was distressed over being unemployed for a long time which resulted in severe financial pressures regarding his responsibilities in taking care of his family.

Mr. Isara’s body was sent to Banglamung Hospital for further examination.
