On 2 October 2007, at 7 PM, Banglamung Police Sub Lieutenant, Wiwat Tes-thong was notified about a suicide at house No. 14/3 Moo1, Soi Nong-plalai, Banglamung, Chonburi. Deputy Superintendent Police Lieutenant Colonel Somchai Yossombat, and a police team, rushed to the scene to investigate.
The site of the suicide was a large bungalow with a private swimming pool. In the bedroom, the body of the deceased man, Mr. Franklin Lynman Nooner (67), lay on the bed. His body was pale and he was clad only in an adult diaper. There was a plastic bag over his head, tied with a shoelace. There were no signs of foul play. Officials believe that he had been dead for about one hour. Mr. Nooner left behind two letters, which the police kept as evidence

Mr. Franklin Lynman Nooner, Jr., the senior Mr. Nooner’s son, tearfully told the police that his father had previouslyworked for a software company. When he retired, he moved to Thailand and bought a large house in Pattaya. Five months ago, his father had an accident which resulted in brain damage and caused the senior Mr. Nooner to become disabled.

Mr. Nooner Jr. made the decision to come to Thailand to take care of his father. His father had, previously, told him that he didn’t want to be a burden to anyone. Once before, he had attempted to commit suicide by slashing his leg; but he was discovered, in time, and rescued. On the day of the incident, Mr. Nooner Jr. went out to do some errands, leaving his father alone in the house. To his shock, when he returned, he discovered that his father had committed suicide in the bedroom, while he was away.

Police believe that Mr. Nooner was depressed over his disabilities. He didn’t want to be a burden and took the ultimate exit. Officials will send his body to the hospital for examination.
