Desperate Thief Robs Family Mart With Knife

A lone thief who was desperate for money robbed a family mart using a knife. He then escaped with some of the takings on his motorbike but his image was captured on the CCTV.

SATTAHIP – March 20, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; Pol.Col.Nares Boontee, detective officer of the shift, was notified that there was a man used a knife to rob money from a Family Mart at 3/51, moo 5, Sattahip, Sattahip, opposite of Singsamut School, on Sukhumwit Rd.

At the crime scene the officers found a Miss Bussaba Kamsa, 18 year old and a Miss Thapanee Sangkrajang, 22 years old who were the cashier staff. They were in a state of shock from the robbery but waited to inform the police of what happened. From checking the CCTV it had captured a male around 30 years old, slightly overweight, 170 cm tall, wearing glasses, a white half helmet, white jeans, and black sneakers holding a foot long kitchen knife. He used the knife to threaten the girls to open the till and to give him all the money inside which totalled 2,845 baht before he fled the scene.

Miss Bussaba said that while she was chopping vegetables, he came in and told her that he would stab her if she tried to escape and forced her to open the cashier. She then gave him the money from the first till which totalled 1,371 baht and 1,474 respectively. Then Miss Thapanee came out from the back of the shop and saw it the man who told her to go back to the back of the shop. He also told Bussaba to follow Thapanee for prevent them following him, and then he ran away.

Pol.Capt.Nares Boontee, said that after the victims had written in the daily journal for evidence, he then sent case to the detective team who will use the CCTV image to arrest the man and prosecute him according to Thai law.
