Delicious Snake Lupinaci

Although not a common international culinary delight, snake is widely eaten in South-East Asia, especially in Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia. So here is a simple recipe for anyone game enough to "chow-down" on the slippery serpents.

1 24-30 inch long Snake cut into 3-4 inch slices (approximately 400grams flesh)

1 teaspoon butter

200 grams mushrooms halved 1 red bell pepper sliced

1 large onion chopped

2 -3 cloves garlic crushed

8 ounces white wine

4 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 knorrs chicken stock cube

Salt and pepper to taste


Skin, gut and wash the snake well before cooking. In a pan, melt butter.  Add onions and garlic frying till onions transparent.

Add the snake strips and when nearly cooked through, add wine and stock cube, continue cooking slowly until meat is fully cooked, add the mushrooms and oyster sauce stirring until it begins to simmer. Remove from heat and serve with jacket potato, bed of rice or pasta.

If not a lot of snake flesh, chicken can be added along with the snake meat and cooked together.
