On arriving at the scene Pattaya police superintendent Pol.Col. Noppadol Wongnorm and his team found the victim Mr. Hassan Biko, a Danish citizen aged 71, waiting for the police. He was sitting at the end of the baht bus seat to prevent the thieves from leaving the bus.

Mr. Biko explained that the three Thai ladies, who were in fact sisters, had tried to rob him. The three sisters were Miss Sunun Kiew-sa-ard (40) and Miss Sunet Kiew-sa-ard,(42) , both living at 144/15, Moo. 10, Nongprue, Banglamung and Miss. Pattama Um-nuoy (21), living at 42/80, Moo. 2, Naglue, Banglamung.

Mr. Biko was on his way to Walking Street in the baht bus in which the three women were co-passengers. Miss Sunun was sitting next to him and tried to pick his pocket. When he realized what was happening he grabbed her and shouted to the driver to stop the bus.

Police searched the sisters’ bags and found 2 bags of dry Ganja, 2 tablets of yaba and some cash, which police suspected had been stolen from previous victims. Police kept all the items as evidence.

Pol.Col. Noppadol said that this gang had been arrested many times previously for similar offences but the cases against them had been dropped because most victims were tourists and they didn’t stay in Pattaya long enough to be witnesses.

The three suspects denied attempting to steal Mr. Biko’s property but confessed to the possession of the ganja and yaba. They were all arrested and taken into custody for further investigation and can now expect to be brought to justice.
