Sirracha,18th January 2011 [Pattaya Daily News]: At an online games internet cafe, in the area of Chak Kho, Moo 2, Surasak, Sirracha, Chonburi, Police Lieutenant Samvithi Khunchit from Sirracha police station, along with police officials and police volunteers, announced that online games internet cafes shall not allow children and teenagers under the age of 18 to log on to play games. There will also be an enforced curfew for all those under 18 from 10.00 pm, unless they have a reasonable excuse, in order to cut down on crimes being committed by teenagers.

Police officials have established certain checkpoints in different areas, in order to stop teenagers grouping together and causing trouble that could lead to their arrest late at night. From past events, these under aged teenagers could become victims, or be the cause of crimes. The police are now trying to clamp down on the problems.

Police will be checking the ages and ID of anyone they stop after 10pm and any of those persons found to be under aged, or caught committing crimes, will be immediately apprehended and taken to the police station where a record of their violation will be recorded and kept on file. Their parents will be informed and asked to pick them up.

To date, it has been observed that many teenagers stopped or caught in violation of the law have been under aged and it is for this reason that police are asking for the co-operation of parents to keep their children home after 10pm unless they are attending tutorial classes in the evening or have other reasonable excuses. The Prime Minister is backing this issue.
