The idea was brought up by Deputy Public Health Minister Manit Nop-amornbodi as the number of cumulative patients of the disease in Thailand soared to 2,076 early Sunday.

According to Mr. Manit, of the total cumulative patients, 2,036 are now fully recovered, 33 are still receiving treatment at hospitals and seven people have died.

Besides ordering hospitals nationwide to open a special channel to specially treat those who have contracted the virus, Mr. Manit said Thais should change their behaviour and should wash their hands and clean their desks upon arrival at their offices, making hygiene the top priority instead of making coffee.

Deputy Permanent Secretary for Public Health Dr. Paichit Varachit provided details that out of the total patients remaining at hospitals, three of them — all women were in critical condition.

Dr. Paichit said the ministry will launch a public education campaign urging people to look after their health by doing exercises and reduce excessive weights because being overweight is the root cause for a number of medical problems. (TNA)
