The police officers had tried to calm Mr.Chaiwat down. The officers found out that he had taken the woman hostage because he wanted the NCPO to help the soldiers in southern border provinces to clamp down on illicit logging. However he later told the police that he needed the officers to help his Laos wife and his son who had been kidnapped by a drug gang in Udonthani.

An hour later, the police officers negotiated with him to release the hostage to POL.SEN.SGT.MAJ.Thanorm Pakdeesamai to which he agreed. Soon after the police arrested him and found that the gun was fake.

Upon questioning Ms.Somthanat he told police that she had just come back from Tony Fitness, South Pattaya and while she was getting in the car the man pointed a gun and knife at her before forcing her to drive on Sukhumwit road where he forced her to crash into the pick-up truck.

Pol.Col.Suppatee revealed that the officers had checked Mr.Chaiwat background; and he had suffered from a mental disorder in Khonkaen hospital, Srithanya hospital and Chiangmai hospital many times. It’s expected that he took her hostage because of his mental disorder and was high on drugs. However the police officers will drug test him before sending him to be prosecuted.
