Crane Runs Out Of Control After Brake Failure In Pattaya

A crane ran which suffered brake failure ran out of control crashing into a bus, cars and pylons. The driver said he crashed into a bus first because there were many motorbikes in front of him.

PATTAYA – November 13,2014 [Pattaya Daily News] at 12.30 pm Pol.Lt.Sirapoodet Chamnankit-inspector of Pattaya police station- was notified that a crane had lost control and crashed into a bus and 2 utility poles and several cars were damaged. The accident occurred at the crossroads in North Pattaya. After notification the police officers went to inspect the scene.

 

At the scene the officials found the bus driver a MR.Teerayut Tiewcharoenpol aged 44 on the footpath and Mr.Prakarn Chongram aged 29 the crane driver who was stuck inside the crane. The crane had hit a CCTV pole which had fallen on top of a Ford Eco-sport and Mr.Albert George Michael aged 78 was still inside. The car was severely damaged but Mr.Albert was not injured. Also a Ford Ranger truck and an Isuzu D-Max truck had been slightly damaged.

Upon questioning Mr.Prakarn he revealed that he had driven the crane from Central Pattaya to the companies office when the brakes failed so he decided to crash into the bus because there were a lot of motorcyclists in front of him.

 

Mr.Suthep Thongkham the 50 year old bus driver said that he was taking the bus back to the bus station when the crane crashed into him slightly injuring his leg.

Initially Pattaya officials went to inspect and clear the area ,while Mr.Prakarn was taken to the police station in order to investigate the accident in more detail.
