CPDC Education Centre Opens

Pattaya, - Sunday 18th December 2010, PDN: - On Saturday the 17th December, an opening ceremony and open day was held for the new "Education Center" at the Child Protection and Development Center (CPDC) not far from the Huay Yai regional government Offices.

The management of HHN Foundation and many overseas dignitaries attended this important event, which marks a milestone in the children’s help program in the Chonburi Province.  

 

Mr. Prinn Panitchpakdi, who is the Senior Regional officer of CLSA, Hong Kong, was the guest of honour, but there were many eqqally as important officials I attendance. A leading sponsor, Herr Ewald Dietrich from HHM in Germany, made a very quick one day trip for the event, as similarly did Francesco Caruso, the Director of “Children at Risk” at the ADM  Capital Foundation in Hong Kong. Other important guests were Khun Somchai Siporat, from the Chonburi Social Development & Human Security Department, plus Khun Samphan Akrapongpanich, the Vice Chairman of Human Help Network Foundation in Thailand.

 

Khun Radchada (Toy) Chomjinda, who is the Director of the HHN Foundation (as well as the Director of the Pattaya Orphanage), put a great deal of effort into the organization of the benefactors, guests and children, which led to a very successful opening day. After the opening ceremony, which included speaces of congratulation and small performances by some of the children, the official cutting of the ribbon was followed by a light lunch. Guests were then invited to an open house, to view the children participating in educational activities, with  facilities including a library, computers, handicrafts and a good range of basic education facilities. This is of immense benefit to orphaned and disadvantaged kids, many of whom have only had very limited educational opportunities.

 

The CPDC Education Centre currently consists of one building but there are plans for to more similar buildings, which are expected to cost around 700,000 baht. Funds are still needed for the construction of these extra educational facilities, and sponsors who can contribute to this worthy project.
