Coronation Day in Chon Buri

Coronation Day celebrated with officials praising his Majesty King Rama 9th in his dedication in the ruling of Thailand and his people.

Chon Buri, 5th May 2010: [Pattaya Daily News]At approximately 9.30am at the Commemoration Hall, Chon Buri, Mr. Senee Jitkasem (Chon Buri Governor) chaired the Royal Worship and Royal Praise Ceremony in the presence of his Majesty the King’s picture.

The governor conducted the 1,000 officials and populace from different departments in Chon Buri in praising King Rama 9th. The participants were completely bowed to respect his (Majesty the King’s) arduousness in working for the Thais. In addition, the chairman led the officials in dedicating the truth pledge in order to be the best officers in the country in return for the Royal grace. Moreover there was a Buddhist merit ceremony for 10 monks, singing the Prestiges Anthem together, with the monks chanting the incantation of Buddha’s inauspicious transcendence for the country’s luck. 


The Coronation Day is an anniversary, celebrating King Rama 9th.  His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej has reigned continuously since the death of his brother King Rama 8th on 9th June 1946 before traveling to study at Lozan University in Switzerland. When the King Rama 9th had equipped himself with the necessary knowledge for government, he came back to Thailand to receive the Royal Coronation officially being crowned King by the government on 5th May 1950. In addition, the king gave his speech of determination that said “I will govern the country with Dharma (Dharma= fair, morals) for Thai’s utility”. Since that day, Thailand has celebrated the 5th of May every year as Coronation Day.
