Cops Uncover Heavy-Duty Firepower In Drug Raid

Banglamung police arrested 4 drug addicts during a raid of a suspected drug house and seized several illegal firearms and the ammunition. Two females and two males were arrested when their urine tested positive for drugs.

PATTAYA – April 22, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; At 10 a.m., the arrests of 4 suspects on drug and firearms charges was announced by Pol. Lt. Col. Theeradech Masthanaphan, Deputy Superintendent, Banglamung police station, Chonburi province, with the police team.

The suspects were identified as Mr. Choknathee Pholkietkul, age 31, Mr. Wannavuth Phromwong, age 22, Ms. Natthawan Phromtem, age 24, and Ms. Rujira Mirattanaphrai, age 21.

Police seized the evidence that included a shotgun, a .38 caliber pistol with 16 bullets, and a .45 caliber machine gun with 39 bullets. Police also seized a car and motorbike to inspect, according to drug laws regarding the seizure of property.

A previous investigation by the detective police team revealed that a house at 27/27 Moo 3 Tambon Nong Preu, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province was where the group of addicts assembled to consume drugs.

So the police team went to search the house and arrested all of the 4 defendants and restrained them to inspect their urine, which revealed the drug substances in their bodies. Besides, the police also found the shotgun, pistols and many bullets in the house, which they seized for evidence.

All of the defendants confessed that they really consumed amphetamine. However, they said the guns belonged to Mr. Choknathee and Mr. Wannavuth. So the police restrained them with the evidence, and sent them to the investigation officers to prosecute further according to the law.

But the police didn’t find any drugs. They further investigated until they found guns hidden in the car. So the police seized all of them and restrained them to investigate further, to track down the origin of the illegal guns in order to further expand the case according to the law.
