City gears up in readiness for the Pattaya Marathon 2006

   Presiding over the siminar on the topic of preparation for traffic safety of the Pattaya Marathon 2006 was Under Deputy Wattana Chanthawaranon. Attended the similar also were Mr Ronakit Akasing, Under Deputy from the Pattaya City Council, Mr Pisai Panomwan na Ayutthaya, Pattya local MP and Chairman of the Pattaya Tourism and Sports department. Mr Sanit Boonmachai, Pattaya MP along with the organizers of the Marathon attended the meeting.

   The purpose of this event is to celebrate golden Jubilee of His Majesty King Bhumibol being the world’s longest reigning Monach. The event will take place on 16 July 2006. There will be four types of races, namely Marathon, Half marathon, Quarter Marathon, and for students. All participants will be released for running on the morning of 16 July at 04.00 am and will be presented with the award at 0800 am. The race will commence from Beach Road, Soi 6 with all athletes running towards the Loma roundabout, then proceed along North Pattaya Road until reaching the intersections, then left along Sukhumvit Road as far as the Banglamung Orphanage, then do a U-turn and proceed along Sukhumvit Road, heading for Chaiyapruk Road, at the end of Chaiyapruk road, turn right, then proceed along Jomtien Beach Road, passing the TAT until reaching the Finish point.

   The City Council have requested assistance from the Traffic Police departments from Pattaya and Banglamung in response to safety both for road users and runners.
