Chonburi to Open Koh Kham Yai as OTOP Village

Koh Kham Yai is being developed to be OTOP (One Tambon One Product) village 1 in 8 of Thailand. It becomes popular among the travelers.

Mr.Komsarn Aekkachai- Provincial Governor of Chonburi- revealed that the committees of Chonburi had discussed that Koh Kham Yai village, Koh Srichang district is suitable to make development as “OTOP Tourism Village” because this villager has an efficient leader and people are harmony. In addition the environment is beautiful and abundant. They also have outstanding OTOP product which is dried squid.

The project is the collaboration of Community Development Department and Koh Srichang district so that they promote Koh Kham Yai village as “OTOP Tourism Village”. The village is going to be developed in order to meet the demand and support the travelers which are Thais and foreigners.

Mr.Padung Rakwong-a-cheep- chief of village- said that there are tourist attractions in Koh Kham Yai such as bivalve sanctuary, tourism information centre, Sufficiency Economy centre, OTOP shop. Plus there are the remarkable activities such as fishing squid, paying respect to Kuan Yu statue and goddess statue and riding the bicycle. Plus they have also campaigned non-plastic using and there is the teenager camp for preserving water and coral.

Mr.Padung added that they have been continuously developing and promoting OTOP Tourism Village to be the outstanding tourist attraction of Chonburi. They need more time to completely develop the project for a while because they also need the budget from other sections. He added that they don’t only wait the central budget but they also start some projects by themselves. For example they had already started the project for creating fish residence.
