PATTAYA – September 1, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 5.30 p.m., Mr. Sakchai Taenghor (Banglamung sheriff, Chonburi province) was informed that a drug dealer was selling drugs in the area so he commanded Mr. Phongthasit Pijjanan (Deputy District Chief of Amphur Banglamung), Officers from the Narcotics Control Board, Head of Special Operation Officers of National Command Centre for Combating Drugs (NCCD) and Mr. Jakkrit Buranakittiphinyo (Deputy District Chief of Amphur Banglamung) to mobilize forces of officers to find clues about the case before arresting Mr. Amnart Chao-na, aged 37, while he was sitting in his rented house in Moo 1 Tambon Huay Yai, Amphur Banglamung. Therefore the officers detained Mr. Amnart and he confessed that he had ordered the amphetamines from an agent in Chonburi prison and as usual he would hire his underlings to collect the drugs from various points then deliver them to customers. Later the officers made a plan for Mr. Amnart to call Mr. Sitthichai Sapsawat, aged 22, (Mr. Amnart’s underling) to deliver some drugs to a customer in Soi Ban Sark Nork, Tambon Huay Yai, and when Mr. Sitthichai turned up at the arranged meeting point the police who were waiting for him and arrested him. Mr. Sakchai Taenghor (Banglamung sheriff) revealed that the reason that Mr. Amnart cooperated with the officers to arrest his own underling was because he wanted the officers to reduce his punishment even though all drugs belonged to him. However, initially the officers charged both defendants with being in possession of type 1 and type 5 drugs with the intent to sell and were sent to the inquiry official of Huay Yai police station in order to be prosecuted further according to the Thai law.
