Chon-Buri, the 29th of September 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: At approximately 10:00am on Wednesday, Major-General Thanet Pinmeung-ngam (Chon-Buri Provisional Police Commander) announced the arrest of four drug dealers suspected to be involved with a substantial distribution operation in the province.

The 4 offenders, Mr. Kampanat Suksawat [25], Mr. Santi Phinyo [35], Ms. Hathairat Sangaium [24], and Mr. Nutthawut Koson [17], were arrested in separate busts by undercover officers from the Chon-Buri Narcotics Division Police, led by Lieutenant Colonel Thahaset Prachaisri (divisional head).

Initially, on the 28th of September, officers arrested Mr. Phinyo in a sting operation enacted at a rental room in Mueng Chon-Buri. He was found in possession of four tablets of the class-1 restricted narcotic Ya-Ba (methamphetamine). Based on preceding investigations officers were able to apprehend another offender, Ms. Sangaium. She was arrested in front of a local Mueng Chon-Buri home theatre shop in possession of 195 tablets of Ya-Ba.

The big break in investigations into the drug distribution syndicate came when police instigated a search on a residence in Mueng Con-Buri, arresting Mr. Suksawat. In the raid, officers confiscated a total of 34,000 tablets of Ya-Ba and approximately 700 grams of the class-1 restricted narcotic Ya-Ice (crystal methamphetamine). The arrest of Mr. Suksawat led police on another house raid in the same district, where they apprehended Mr. Koson in possession of 36,000 Ya-Ba tablets.

In total, Chon-Buri Narcotics Division Police confiscated some 70,199 pills of Ya-Ba valued at an estimated Bt21 million and 700 grams of Ya-Ice valued at approximately Bt3 million.

According to the police press conference, all four arrested offenders have since admitted to their crimes, revealing that they had been hired by another woman, known only as Miss Nui, who was working under the control of a prisoner detained at the Chachoengsao Central Prison.

Investigations are now continuing in an attempt to uncover the identity of the two aforementioned suspects, while the four arrested offenders have now been charged on varying drug possession/distribution offences.
