Chinese Beggar Arrested With 45,000 THB

The immigration police arrested a China man who was begging for money in Nakhon Ratchasima province. He used a hand written message to tell people he was begging for his sick family which he had no money to cure them. He was found with 45,000 THB hidden under his belt.

NAKHON RATCHASIMA – January 3, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 2.00 a.m. Pol. Maj. Gen. Chartchai Eam-saeng (Commander of Immigration Bureau 4) joined to investigate Mr. Ge Yun Zhen, aged 54, from China after the immigration police team followed up to see his behavior and arrested him while he was begging for money from people in the area of Nakhon Ratchasima province. The police seized 45,000 THB which was hidden under his belt.

This arrest due to the immigration police were coordinated from Mrs. Massuree Sriphromma (the head of the Office of Social Development and Human Stability, Nakhon Ratchasima province) that there were a group of Chinese people begging for money from the local people by using a written sympathised message which many Thai people believed them and gave them money. Mrs. Massuree coordinated with the immigration police to inspect the group of Chinese people.

Later on the immigration police found out a group of Chinese people were staying in a hotel in the area of Nakhon Ratchasima municipality therefore the immigration police team together with the representatives of the Office of Social Development and Human Stability, Nakhon Ratchasima province went to arrest Mr. Ge Yun Zhen with 1 banknote of 20 THB together with 1 piece of paper with a written sympathized message : “With respect to the charitable people, I have a son who has Leukemia and I don’t have money to cure him, my wife is also disabled and my mother is blind so I plead for the humanitarians to donate some money depends on your faith, thank you so much for everyone’s mercy.” so the officers searched in his body in detail and found many 1,000 THB banknotes totalling 45,000 THB which were hidden beneath his belt so the officers detained him to investigate further.

From initial investigation, the defendant didn’t say anything so much but he confessed that he really begged for money and he had entered into Thailand with the tourist passport which the latest time he came to Thailand on November 6, 2013 then wandered to beg for money in the various big provinces in the central and north eastern parts of Thailand which he could get 500-1,500 THB per day and he let a Thai person write the message on the paper for him. Initially, the immigration police detained him to be sent to Nakhon Ratchasima police station to prosecute in the allegation of being the alien person who begged for money without permission before deporting him.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Chartchai Eam-saeng (Commander of Immigration Bureau 4) revealed that the officers found many Chinese people who had come to Nakhon Ratchasima province and wandered to beg for money with the same method which he assumed that there might be 2-3 Chinese beggars that came with Mr. Ge Yun Zhen so the police will follow up to arrest the other people involved and prosecute them further according to the Thai law.
