Chelsea in 7th Heaven as Reds Are Beaten at the Death

English Premier League action resumed over weekend after last weeks multitude of cancelations, due to the extreme weather conditions experience in the United Kingdom. Chelsea came back to form in a 9 goal thriller at Stamford Bridge whilst Liverpool lost in the crucial last minutes of their match against recently promoted Stoke.

Manchester United put their recent humiliating 1-1 draw with Birmingham behind them, beating Burnley 3-0 in the Theatre of Dreams. Cross-town rivals Manchester City suffered a shock loss to the resurgent Toffee’s outfit, loosing 2-0 at Goodison Park, suffering only their 3rd defeat of the season.

Top four contenders Tottenham and Aston Villa both played out uneventful 0-0 draws against Hull City and West Ham United respectively. The Gunners continued to keep up the pace with league leaders Chelsea and Man Utd following a convincing 2-0 win away at Bolton.

After last weeks match abandonments – due to extreme weather conditions across most of the country – league fixtures this weekend did not fail to disappoint the eager fans. Chelsea recommenced their push for a 4th Premier League Title whilst defending champions Manchester United steadied the ship after a turbulent last couple of fixtures. Despite the chance to close the gap at the top of the table, Liverpool continued their abysmal form, all be it with a multitude of injuries to their key players.

After last years tilt at the title and not many changes to the roster it comes as no surprise that Spanish manager Rafa Benitez is coming under intense pressure to rectify his teams dwindling hopes.
